How do you truly feel about your hair?

Is your hair Relaxed or Natural? Do you know the porosity level of your hair? Do you wear protective styles, silk presses, twist outs, or a lil bit of everything? Are you trying to figure out how to grow your hair and keep it healthy? Or are you so stressed that your'e ready to give up on your hair all together?

Answer this series of questions to learn more about your haircare needs and which of our products will bring out the best in your hair.

Chemically Confused

Your hair is relaxed and or colored and it's taken a toll on your strands - you may prefer the convenience of a relaxer and absolutely have to color your grays, or you probably can't see yourself in the color you were born with ever again! Tell me, do blondes have more fun? Of course they do...Well, blondes also have drier hair than brunettes and relaxed hair can easily become over processed.

Every time we put chemicals in our hair we compromise the outer layer of our hair which is the cuticle. When we use chemicals on our hair it can causes cracks in the cuticle, this causes dull, dry, frizzy, and brittle hair which makes your hair more prone to damage and breakage.

Although some of you are in for a major hair repair journey all hope is not lost. To start your journey off right you may need a good protein treatment and a trim. See a qualified reputable professional for future chemical and color services, they should be able to asses your hair and do what's best for you in the moment. Here at Johnna Sabree we are not anti-chemical, we are anti-chemical damage! Understanding your haircare needs will allow you to enjoy your color and convenience that relaxers provide.

Haircare can become a headache when you aren't using the right products and at times finding the right stylist can be like finding a needle in a haystack. We understand completely! Even if you have a stylist life can get in the way and frequent trips to the salon might not always be an option for you. Creating a hair care ritual you can do yourself will allow you to maintain your hair in between salon visits.

In your case, your at home haircare ritual should be about strengthening and rebuilding your hair! Bi-weekly shampoo and conditioning, monthly strengthening treatments, or deep conditioning is key. Our Honey Love system is great for hydration and it's packed with protein to strengthen and rebuild weak, damaged hair. We also have a leave in conditioner to match which has a built in heat protectant to prevent further damage when heat styling.

We hope this helps you start your hair care journey with confidence, check out our hair care systems and maintenance products so you can begin reversing the chemical damage immediately, we strongly suggest our Honey Love line!

Naturally Stressed

Now at first glance, you might think being Naturally Stressed has a bit of a negative connotation. But we disagree - This simply means that you haven't figured out what your hair needs in order to make it more manageable.

Sure, you've broken a comb or two and you dread washing and blow drying your own hair but with time, patience, the right products and a consistent hair care ritual you can be well on your way to bouncing and behaving hair.

The key to unlocking the doorway to healthy manageable hair is....POROSITY! You have to know and understand the porosity level of your hair, if you aren't sure you can take a strand of your hair from a comb or brush and drop it in a cup of water. If it sinks to the bottom your porosity is high. If it floats at the top, your porosity is low. If it's floating in the middle your porosity is normal.

Your Porosity level determines how well your hair absorbs hydration which helps retain moisture. When hair is hydrated and moisturized it's easier to manage.

The next step for you should be choosing products that benefit your hair type and texture. The great thing about Johnna Sabree hair care is that we've done most of the hard work for you. Our products are specifically for women of color and on our website each product is broken down by hair type to ensure you receive optimal care for your hair.

When checking out our hair care systems, don't be afraid to mix and match. You may need Calming Shampoo for your scalp and Honey Love for extreme conditioning, which ever you choose just remember that conditioning is key! Consider your porosity when choosing which of our products will work for best for you hair, with this you can start your hair care journey with confidence and ease!

Density Deprived

You are density deprived but the question is how did you get here? Thin hair and hair loss of any kind can be like an unsolved mystery for some and for others a nightmare. Constant shedding, obsolete edges, and patches of hair missing throughout the crown can become something some have had to learn to live with. I'm sure wigs and weaves are your go to, even more so now because wigs look more realistic than ever!

The options are plentiful for hiding hair loss, unfortunately some of these options are perpetuating the hair loss. Traction alopecia is caused by tight hair styles like weaves, ponytails, and braids which can pull hair out from the follicles. Lace front wigs can cause hair loss as well if adhesives are applied to your real hair.

Another common form of hair loss is Male Pattern Baldness, caused by DHT which is produced by testosterone and it actually affects millions of women. It's a gradual process of hair loss and most women don't realize what's going on until they have lost almost half of their hair. Thin hair and hair loss can even be hereditary, check your family tree for answers and lastly internal factors can contribute to hair loss as well, auto immune diseases, vitamin and mineral deficiency just might be an underlying cause.

Now let's get to the good part, if you are trying to grow your hair back and your hair loss is from hormonal issues like post natal hair loss (hair loss after child birth) theres hope! Chances of growing your hair back are higher than if you have been loosing your hair for years. If you are deficient in vitamins and minerals there's hope! Even if you have Male Pattern Baldness there's hope!

What you must remember is that in order to regrow your hair it takes a multi-therapeutic approach, this means you must address your hair loss from every possible angel. Mentally, externally, and internally in order to regrow your hair. See a hair loss specialist, dermatologist, get your blood checked, if you're stressed see a therapist, take your vitamins, and create a hair care ritual that you can commit to.

The Johnna Sabree company specializes in products that encourage growth and maintain hydration which is necessary for minimizing breakage. If you are in the early stages of hair loss or you want thicker hair check out our haircare systems. We've created every product with growth encouraging ingredients. We strongly suggest our best selling oil Super Happy Follicles, it has a natural DHT Blocker so you can start your haircare ritual with confidence.

Content Coils, Curls, & Strands

You are Content with your curls, coils, and strands and we here at Johnna Sabree consider you blessed by the hair Gods! You are one of the lucky people who can do a little bit of any and everything to your hair. Some of you Content Cuties have a great understanding of your hair care needs and some of you do the bare minimum and remain lucky.

We suggest you do your best to maintain your naturally healthy mane because things can go left if you neglect your hair or choose hairstyles that pull too tightly on your hair. Always go to a trusted professional for chemical and color services, avoid excessive heat and treat your tresses to routine trims to keep your hair looking its best.

If you want to add more length, volume or shine to your hair check out our Calming system, it's packed with ingredients that stimulate your hair follicles, keep your scalp healthy, and enhance the natural luster of your hair. If you want thicker and longer hair try Happy Follicles-follicle stimulant, you'll be happy you did!

Want the good stuff now?

Really Reflective

Miss Reflective we understand your struggle and we want you to know that better days are on the way. The better days we speak of require you to wash your hair more often and limit the amount of styling products you use.

As women of color we see dry hair more frequently than oily hair and for that reason products for oily hair aren't common in the black hair care community. When it comes to finding products that allow your hair to shine without leaving it greasy terminology is key. Shampoo's that clarify, purify or contain tea tree are best. You also want to use products that hydrate not moisturize because your oily hair makes its own moisturizer.

Managing oily hair will take practice and require a routine. Our Calming system is made with tea tree and will provide you with hydration as well as a deep clean and it's gentle enough to use often.

We suggest you wash your hair once a week with lukewarm water, apply conditioner to your ends only and rinse within 1-2 min with cool water, hot water can cause an increase in sebum production. Limit the amount of styling aids you use and make sure your head scarves, hats, combs and brushes are oil free and cleaned often.

As far as styling, wet sets and styles that allow your hair to dry naturally are best, dilute mousse and wrapping lotions with water to limit build up and if you do use blow dryers or flat irons keep the heat settings low.

Head over to our site and start your new hair care ritual off right with our Calming system.

Is your hair relaxed and or color treated?

Are the ends of your hair dry and or frizzy?

What is the porosity level of your hair?

My wash day looks like:

What is your go-to hair style of choice?

If you had one hair wish what would it be?

How did you choose the hair products you use currently?

What’s your biggest issue with your hair?
